I tend to be a quote addict, spewing forth others’ words of wisdom and experience when the need arises for a specific person or situation. There is so much to be gleaned from the life lessons of those who’ve come before us!
People ask me all the time for my favorite inspirational, motivational quotes. Love quotes too (but those will come in another blog post – stay tuned!) The truth is, I have been collecting them for many years from books, speeches, even scrawl on walls. Some I have heard since I was a small child (“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt) and some I’ve stumbled across very recently.
My list is now pages and pages long. But I’ve decided to start sharing them here on my blog, a few at a time so you can savor them one at a time. Some you’ve probably heard before, others may be new to you – my intention is to simply share my favorites. Today’s quotes happen to be from a few famous icons whose passion, dreams and words have helped many of us “keep calm and carry on” (British Ministry of Information, war propaganda poster, 1939). Hopefully, the following will give you an added ray of sunshine, a boost of energy, and a warm cup of comfort….

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” ~Albert Camus
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt
“He who looks outside dreams; he who looks within, awakens.” ~Carl Jung
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” ~Helen Keller
“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.” ~Amelia Earhart
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ~Mark Twain
“It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.” ~Lena Horne
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” ~Harriet Tubman
“Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it.” ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
“Come to the edge.”
“We can’t. We’re afraid.”
“Come to the edge.”
“We can’t. We will fall!”
“Come to the edge.”
And they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew. ~Guillaume Apollinaire
